Mokauiti is one of five stations owned by King Country Energy (KCE) and operated by Manawa Energy. 

KCE undertake extensive fish monitoring and fish passage development. During a typical spring more than 500 migrating eels successful bypass the KCE stations during their migration to the ocean. More than 220,000 elvers make the journey in the opposite direction as they migrate upstream
