Kuratau is one of five stations owned by King Country Energy (KCE) and operated by Manawa Energy. The scheme has two substations: the Kuratau Substation and The Lines Company Substation. The Kuratau substation is shared with network company The Lines Company, while The Lines Company substation is owned by the network operator.

KCE work with the Department of Conservation to complete fish monitoring dives three times a year. 

There is a boat ramp at Lake Kuratau for lake users. Access is through neighbouring farmland and visitors are requested to respect all signs and notices.
