Manawa Energy is now 100% owned by Contact Energy.
Manawa Energy Limited came into effect on 1 May 2022. Prior to this, the company traded as Trustpower Limited, which is why documentation published before this date will relate to Trustpower Limited. The Trustpower name and retail brand was acquired by a competitor and was retired in 2023. On 11 September 2024 Manawa Energy Limited (Manawa) entered into a Scheme Implementation Agreement with Contact Energy Limited (Contact) under which Contact agreed to acquire all of Manawa's shares through a scheme of arrangement (‘Scheme’). On 11 July 2025, Contact’s acquisition of Manawa Energy completed, and Manawa is now part of the Contact whānau.
